Dr Matthew Shaw works at the British Library as North American Curator, and Project Coordinator for theEuropeana Collections 1914-1918. He is an expert on the French Revolution, having just published Time and the French Revolution: The Republican Calendar, 1789-Year XIV (The Royal Historical Society, 2010). At Birkbeck he has taught a number of courses on early modern Europe. This Friday’s paper promises to be very stimulating, our first on the concept of early modern time.
