Beyond the Closet: Material Props for Domestic Devotion in Post-Reformation England
Dr Tara Hamling
Friday 30 November, Malet St, room B02, 6.30 pm
We are delighted to invite you to our next lecture.
Dr Tara Hamling works at Birmingham University where she teaches courses on both Shakespeare and the Reformation.
She has published widely on the relationship of the English Reformation to art and artefacts, her books including Decorating the Godly Household: Religious Art in Protestant Britain, c.1560-c.1660 (Yale University Press, 2010) and Everyday Objects: Medieval and Early Modern Material Culture and its Meanings, co-edited with Catherine Richardson (Ashgate, 2010).
Her lecture on 30 November promises to incorporate art history with cultural history and so should have a broad appeal.
