We are delighted to welcome back Professor Sir Brian Vickers who will present the Second Barry Coward Memorial Lecture. In recent years Brian Vickers has become well known for his studies on authorship attribution problems relating to Shakespeare but on this occasion he will speak on the History of Science. His work in this field includes editing Occult and Scientific Mentalities in the Renaissance(CUP 1984, 2005), and an anthology of English Science: Bacon to Newton (CUP 1987, 2007).Brian Vickers served on the editorial board of Isis, the leading American journal in the History of Science, and is currently on the editorial board of the English journal, Annals of Science.
The lecture will be followed by our end of term Christmas Party. Although drinks and snacks will be provided it would be it would be lovely if you were able to bring a bottle.
