Birkbeck EMS AGM and Lecture: Dr Stephen Brogan – Rivals for the Royal Touch

We are delighted to announce our first lecture of the academic year to take place on 23 October 2015 by Dr Stephen Brogan entitled ‘Rivals to Charles II? Valentine Greatrakes, the duke of Monmouth and the royal touch in Restoration England, 1660-85’. Refreshments will be available.

Where: Birkbeck Malet Street room BO2, Friday 23 October
When: The lecture starts at 6.30 and is preceded by our AGM at 6.00

Dr Stephen Brogan was a founder and was the president of the EMS from 2006-13. He is now a visiting lecturer at Royal Holloway University of London. Dr Brogan is the author of a groundbreaking new book, ‘The Royal Touch in Early Modern England: Politics , Medicine and Sin’

  1. Congratulations to Dr Brogan on the publication of his book on a fascinating subject. I think it may be possible to arrange with the publishers to bring some copies of the book to Dr Brogan’s lecture on Oct 23 as promotion. Some members may be interested to purchase a copy, and especially if Dr Brogan would be willing to sign them.
