2017 Barry Coward Memorial Lecture

On Friday 24 February 2017 at 6.30 we will be pleased to welcome J. D. Davies who will give a talk on ‘Putting the Sea Back into Charles II: Pepys, the Stuarts, and the Missing Link of Restoration history’.

Venue: Room 106, 43 Gordon Square, WC1H 0PD.

J. D. Davies is an author of both fiction and non-fiction with a particular interest in seventeenth-century maritime history.

His works on fiction focus on the adventures of his fictional hero Matthew Quinton and his works of non-fiction include Pepys’s Navy: Ships, Men and Warfare 1649-89 (2008) , with a revised second edition coming out in the summer of 2016; Blood of Kings: The Stuarts, The Ruthvens and the Gowrie Conspiracy (2010) ; and  Britannia’s Dragon: A Naval History of Wales  (2013). His next non-fiction book, Kings of the Sea: Charles II, James II, and the Royal Navy, will be published by Seaforth Publishing in the summer of 2017.
