Joining the Birkbeck Early Modern Society (EMS)

Membership Membership can be obtained in person at any of our events. Membership for the academic year is £5 and you will be provided with a membership card. Once a member, there is no charge to attend our regular lectures, and we will not charge for as many other events as is possible. We may be able to offer special rates for our other events and conferences.

We are a non-profit making society, and the membership fees are used to finance the day to running of the society and its events, for example, paying speakers’ expenses, and providing refreshments at lectures. If it transpires that we have some ‘extra’ money in our accounts, we use this to provide special offers to members – for example, we have bought tickets for performances at The Globe, and then given these to members for free.

So turn up, pay and become part of this exciting society. By the way, you do not have to be a Birkbeck student to join the Birkbeck EMS.

Contributions to our official journal the Birkbeck Early Modern Society Bulletin are welcome and should be directed to the Editor, John Croxon. The only real criteria for contributions is that they deal with a subject within our date range of 1450-1815.The Bulletin is published at the end of March, June, September and December.

The deadlines for submissions to the Bulletin for 2010 are:

Autumn Bulletin – 20th September

Winter Bulletin – 20th December

Members and non-members alike can follow us at Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/BirkbeckEMS.

We also have a Facebook group at Birkbeck Early Modern Society. (Please ask to join. We are happy to accept new members for this group but would like to keep a degree of privacy.)
